Home From Away

I keep a document on my computer entitled Random Thoughts I Catch. One day I came across this one:

It’s funny how it’s the doing of the laundry and the washing of the sink that make you feel like you are home. No longer a guest. It’ s no longer new. It’s like relationships. After a certain age they require maintenance.

For some reason I thought expanding on that idea might make an interesting short film. So one day I did. Written, shot, and edited in less than a week. Not quite sure I connected the idea, but at least the music’s really nice (scored by Move Mountain/Elia Petridis) and my friends Jeff and Ali did a great job on screen. Natalie was, as always, invaluable.

Eventually everything loses its novelty. At that point I just see the entropy  and I want to run. But I’m starting to think some things are worth fixing and making new again. And some times my car won’t start.
